Under the weight of reality, talent and creativity are either wasted or destroyed. Researching, experimenting, or pursuing art is not widely appreciated in our society, which is largely consumerist. Such abilities probably exist in more or less every one of our houses, but they frequently suffer neglect as a result of our ignorance and lack of leadership. Our social and economic framework historically discourages and rejects those who seek out alternative paths, and they typically spend their days by themselves. Siliguri is one of these cities, to use the examples of other places, whose future is to become consumerist. One of the main causes of the local creative mind's lag is the absence of art colleges in Siliguri and North Bengal. Though few in number, those who have stepped forward to support us include some kindhearted individuals and those who value art and culture. The BIG I ART FOUNDATION SILIGURI (Govt. Regd.) has been established in order to promote and nurture simple and innocent abilities by offering shade like a banyan tree from the horrors of ludicrous social carelessness.
The Big I Art Foundation Siliguri began its journey on December 9th, 2017. The foundation's name was chosen following a spiritual insight. When people dwell on a self-centred narrative, they project a bigoted and thus narrow mentality. However, the primary subject of the foundation emerges when the idea of the individual transcends into the spirit of the social collective and consciousness. The Big I Art Foundation in Siliguri was established with a focus on the arts and artistic practises. The organisation is aware of its societal responsibility to introduce different artistic forms and artists to the public.
The foundation aspires to establish a modern art centre in Siliguri, North Bengal, in the future, in addition to establishing a space for the development of both art and artists. The art centre will have a permanent museum of art and craft as well as exhibition space(s) where artists from across the world will be able to hold workshops and/or residencies. Such a setup will be advantageous in two ways: first, by giving artists a platform to sustain their type of art; and second, by offering countless learning possibilities for future generations. The art centre may include a museum and exhibition spaces in addition to a café, art projection room, art library, etc.
